ABOUT THIS JOURNAL

About the journal

The Southern African Missiological Society (SAMS) is a scholarly society for the study of Christian mission. It publishes the peer–reviewed journal Missionalia: Southern African Journal of Missiology.

Missionalia was established in 1973, out of a previous cyclostyled journal called Missionaria by its first editor, Prof DJ Bosch. This happened under the support guidance by the South African Missiological Society (SAMS – which was started on 25 January 1968). This means that in 2013, this journal was able to celebrate 40 years of scholarly engagement, with a growing international reputation amongst colleagues in fields related to Religion, Theology, Missiology and various related fields, including Intercultural and Interreligious Theology.

Missionalia publishes one volume a year, adding articles as they are ready for publication.

The abbreviated key title is Missionalia (Online).

The publication language for both articles and abstracts is English.
