ABOUT THE JOURNAL

 

Basic Information

Journal of Geography Education in Africa (JoGEA) is an Open Access, double–blinded peer–reviewed journal of the Southern African Geography Teachers’ Association (SAGTA) focusing on Geography and Sustainability Education to share research and experiences that promote sound practices, innovative strategies, modern developments and reflection in Geography teaching and learning.

JoGea aims to

  • encourage the continued professional growth and support of existing educators and methodologists in the field of Geography and Sustainability studies as well as supporting and encouraging student teachers–in–training;

  • build the importance of Geography as a globally relevant subject within schools;

  • improve the status of secondary geography education in relation to the study options available at the tertiary level;

  • promote African scholarship, particularly that of emerging scholars; and

  • promote the principles of sustainability through education.

The types of articles include Articles, Review articles, and Obituaries

Journal publishes one continuous volume annually.
