Dear readers, authors, reviewers and editorial team members,

This volume of our journal was enriched by several first-time authors and a host of new reviewers. We are grateful for the way South African Journal of Childhood Education (SAJCE) has expanded. Authors who are based at South African public universities enjoy the benefit of subsidies for publications in accredited journals. Publishing in our journal has been a step in the professional advancement of these future guardians of scholarship in childhood education. We thank the Department of Higher Education and Training for this gift to emergent researchers.

One of the challenges an editorial team faces is the availability of reviewers from our already large pool and approaching new reviewers. It is always a happy occasion when Ms Adams at AOSIS informs us that new reviewers have accepted the invitation. Members of the journal's advisory board often help with suggestions and also offer to review a manuscript. The section editors and the guest editors of special collections are all a great source of assistance.

South African Journal of Childhood Education is listed on SCOPUS and on the Web of Science Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), where the current impact factor is 0.9. Who knows - with the continued collaboration of our readers, authors, reviewers and the editorial team - the journal could be listed on the Social Sciences Citation Index in the near future?

On that hopeful note, I also have to say goodbye to the journal from my role as Editor-in-Chief. It took us a while to find an ideal new editor with a track record of research in the education and development of children. I welcome Prof. Sarita Ramsaroop to this journal, who has been appointed as a new Editor-in-Chief. We wish you much joy and success in putting together Volume 15 and many ones after that.

    Regards,

    Elizabeth
