Dealing with bone defects in primary and revision knee arthroplasty is challenging and requires careful planning to define and quantify the deficiency. Pre-operative clinical, radiological and intra-operative assessment facilitates the classification of the defect and instructs in the appropriate bone replacement and implant strategy. This paper reviews the assessment and treatment options.
