OBITUARY

Dr Bhaskar Fulena Gujadhur, 12/03/1982 - 28/09/2023

It is with sadness that we inform the surgical community of the passing of our colleague from Mauritius after a brave struggle with cancer. He was 41 years of age.

Dr Gujadhur was born and raised in Mauritius, where he underwent his primary and high school training. He studied for his basic medical degree at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University, in Karnataka, India. After internship and some time in Mauritius he joined the surgical training programme at UKZN as a supernumerary registrar, training in General Surgery between March 2011 until the end of December 2014. He passed his FCS(SA) in 2015 and did research on burns-related thrombocytopaenia toward the MMed degree. He will be fondly remembered by colleagues and students as a fun person with the wicked sense of humour, attributes that also shone through in his dealings with patients and their families

During his training, he found love and married Meagan Lewis. He then obtained his registration as a specialist in Mauritius and returned to practice at Clinique Ferrier hospital, Curepipe and did consultancy work for the insurance industry.

Our sympathies go to Meagan, his son, Rohan, and parents during these trying times.
