Abstract

SABBAGH, Ingrid T.  and  KAYE, Perry T.. Formation of 3,3,4-Trimethyl-1,7-dibromonorbornane-2-one: a Spectroscopic and Computational Study. S.Afr.j.chem. (Online) [online]. 2020, vol.73, pp.30-34. ISSN 1996-840X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.17159/0379-4350/2020/v73a5.

The structure and origin of the major by-product in the synthesis of 8-bromocamphor from (+)-3,3,8-tribromocamphor has been confirmed using NMR, coset and single crystal X-ray analysis and DFT-level computational techniques.

Keywords : Camphor derivatives; skeletal rearrangement; DFT calculations; NMR; coset analysis.
