Abstract
MAYER, Peter; YUMATA, Nonzaliseko C.; GERBER, Thomas I.A. and ABRAHAMS, Abubak'r. The oxidation of rhenium(III) by dioxygen in the presence of tri- and tetradentate N,O-donor ligands. S.Afr.j.chem. (Online) [online]. 2010, vol.63, pp.40-44. ISSN 1996-840X.
The oxidation of trans-[ReCl3(MeCN)(PPh3)2] by dioxygen in the presence of the potentially tridentate N2O-donor ligand 2-[((2-pyridinylmethyl)amino)methyl]phenol (Hham) in ethanol led to the formation of the hydrogen-bonded oxorhenium(V) dimer [ReOCl2(ham)]2. With the potentially tetradentate N2O2-chelate N,N-bis(2-hydroxybenzyl)-aminomethylpyridine (H2hap), the '4 + 1' complex [ReOCl(hap)] was isolated. Both compounds were characterized by 1Ή NMR and infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray crystallography.
Keywords : Oxidation; oxorhenium(V); multidentate ligands; crystal structures.
