The South African Journal of Science is an english, multidisciplinary science journal published bimonthly by the Academy of Science of South Africa. Since the Journal serves a multidisciplinary readership, articles should serve multidisciplinary or multi-institutional areas of interest, and authors are requested to write their papers and reports in a manner and style that is intelligible to specialists and nonspecialists alike. The journal was established in 1903 as the proceedings of
the annual meetings of the SA Association for the Advancement of Science.
The annual volume became a monthly publication in August 1947. Since 1973,
the Journal has in turn had a close association with Macmillan Journals
in London (the then publisher of Nature), the Associated Scientific and
Technical Societies of SA (AS&TS), the Foundation for Education, Science
and Technology, and the National Research Foundation. Its abbreviated title is S. Afr. j. sci., which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references and strips. |
