INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

Scope and Editorial Policy

Phronimon publishes original scientifically justifiable contributions (articles, discussions of articles previously published and book reviews) within the field of Philosophy and the Humanities, although contributions within the field of Greek Philosophy and Greek studies will receive priority. We publish in English, Afrikaans and modern Greek. On submission of the manuscript the author shall present a written undertaking that the article has not been published or is not being presented for publication elsewhere.

Phronimon is an accredited journal with a policy of double–blind peer review. All submitted contributions undergo a process of peer review and must comply with the recommendations of reviewers and the in–house editorial style. Effective and detailed source referencing is of paramount importance. Articles will be scrutinised and checked for bibliographic references and any evidence of proven plagiarism will result in non–publication.

Policy on publication of editors’ articles

The intention of this policy is to ensure a transparent, fair and academically justifiable process in dealing with submitted articles by the Editorial staff of Phronimon.
The Editorial staff of Phronimon will be encouraged to submit articles, since they form a core of subject specialists relevant to this publication.
No member of the Editorial staff of Phronimon will in any way be given an advantage in getting submitted articles published.
An Editor or Editorial Board Member or member of the International Advisory Board of Phronimon may publish only ONE article in Phronimon per annum.
The article will be evaluated according to the exact same standards and blind–review process as for any other author.
Regardless of the fact that an Editor (as submitting author) may become aware of persons involved as reviewers and/or section editors, the submitting author will in no way influence the process or correspond with the editors, section editors or reviewers about the process.
Communication about the article and review process will follow the same route as for any other outside author.
